Sydney Harbour Federation Trust
Visit magnificent headlands, islands, bays, beaches and a lighthouse in a string of beautiful parklands dotted around Sydney Harbour. The Sydney Harbour Federation Trust is conserving and opening up to the community former defence sites that have been hidden away for many years.
Why not get out and visit:
• Cockatoo Island (pictured): take a ferry to this historic island with its convict prison and enormous dockyard and shipbuilding structures. Discover its colourful past on an audio tour or camp overnight in Sydney’s only harbourside campground.
• Macquarie Lighthouse: climb Australia’s oldest continuously operating navigational light and witness spectacular views of the harbour and Sydney’s green headlands.
• Headland Park: discover walking tracks, harbour views, historical fortifications, a sculpture trail, picnic spots and a lookout with one of Sydney Harbour’s best vantage points.
• Chowder Bay, Mosman: relax on the beach, enjoy a meal by the water’s edge or explore this picturesque maritime village.
• North Head Sanctuary: discover the natural beauty and military history of North Head as you wander its walking tracks with native bushland and spectacular harbour and ocean views.
• Woolwich Dock and Parklands: walk around this enormous dry dock and observe boat repairs in this wonderful foreshore precinct.
These lands offer a unique perspective on one of the world’s great harbours.
