Sail the way James Cook did 240 years ago
For April 2010, the Australian National Maritime Museum is offering a range of options to explore Sydney Harbour and its surrounds aboard HMB Endeavour, a replica of James Cook’s famous vessel of discovery. Choose from: An Endeavour Harbour Adventure half-day trip on Sydney Harbour Friday 9 April and Saturday 10 April. Ideal for children aged 7+ and their families because it has lots of fun activities and theatre for the kids.
Tickets are $80 adults, $40 children or $200 for a family ticket (2 adults + 2 children) and include morning or afternoon tea. Bookings essential.
A more adventurous Endeavour Overnight Experience. Saturday 3 April and Monday 5 April 2010
Experience an afternoon sail on Sydney Harbour, followed by dinner and expert presentations on astronomy, navigation or botany. Then curl up in a hammock on the mess deck to experience sleeping on board the Endeavour just as Cook’s men did in the 18th century. It’s a camping experience with a difference!
A challenging Endeavour High Sea Adventure - Offshore voyages 11-15 April and 25-29 April 2010 for five or six days. There are three different trips available. Apply to join as voyage crew, and work alongside professional crew members to experience real 18th-century sailing on the high seas. Or, join as a supernumerary and sail like a gentleman passenger.
